2 AM by Richard Tyler Epperson: Review
‘2 AM’ by Richard Tyler Epperson begins with a clean guitar intro, filled with smooth chords. The arrangement is a neo-soul guitar style and the vocals are emotional. Richard sang with a lot of heart. Afterward, the beat drop is surprising and builds up into heavy vocal momentum. The transitions are unique and the chorus is quite energetic. Also, the melodies in the chorus accompanying it are quite catchy. There are some scale changes near the end of the verse and chorus which reminds me of my jazz compositions. In the second verse, the background vocals enter and it sounds heavenly.
Every time the chorus comes on I feel excited, because the beat and tempo changes are phenomenal, and the timing is just perfect. After the second chorus, there are some vocal harmonies which is a perfect way to end a song. This part of the rhythm is similar to the chorus. Wow, I was amazed by every moment of the song. 2 am is actually a time when most people if they don’t fall asleep will stay locked inside their heads, so Richard’s song speaks to me in a similar way.
The results of 2 AM demonstrate a passionate musician who has dedicated his craft despite being a solo artist. Richard has developed each and every song from the bottom up using a do-it-yourself approach. Richard’s sincerity and flair reflect the development of fantastic songs. He is able to combine substance and style with meaningful messages into material guaranteed to last.
