28to15 presents their debut EP, โ99 Miles,โ a collection of tracks that skillfully combines catchy, upbeat melodies with introspective and heartfelt lyrics. With their distinct rock sound infused with pop sensibilities, 28to15 delivers an engaging and well-crafted musical experience.
The EP kicks off with the debut single, โ(Hey Hey) Beautiful Day,โ a melodically uplifting track that deals with the rather hard topic of mental issues and insecurities in oneโs lover. The chorus lines, โHey hey what a beautiful day, she said, when you walked into my life,โ add a vibrant tone to the song and, therefore, to the rest of the album as they overshadow the EP and give us a glimpse of the rest of the tracks.
The upbeat energy hooks listeners into joining in a joyous ensemble until the heaviness of the lyrics weighs down on them. But thatโs what makes them stay, even if they didnโt come for it, because profundity is always appreciated.
โBright Eyedโ is rather thoughtful with a sonorous delivery. The lyricism is perfectly complemented by the tender vocals controlled masterfully to ebb and flow magically within the rock and country landscape.
The production quality, handled by a friend Nik, shines through, allowing each instrument and element to have its own space while contributing to the cohesive musical landscape.
28to15โs โ99 Milesโ is an impressive debut EP that encapsulates the essence of their rock-pop sound. You donโt want to miss it, especially if you love similar artists like Bruce Springsteen, Dave Matthews Band and Counting Crows.
