Alpha Cassiopeiae releases captivating new song ‘Nébuleuse’
The Lyon-based electronic jazz duo Alpha Cassiopeiae fuses Maxime and Nicolas’ various musical worlds. They combine these universes in this new EP, ‘Laïka’, oscillating between the sweetness of Portico Quartet, the rougher rhythms of Tigran Hamasyan, and of course the sounds of Alfa Mist and Yussef Dayes.
This EP, ‘Laïka’, especially with the Aurora opening, reveals the imagination of space travel around the star Alpha Cassiopeiae. The names ‘Vostok’, ‘Nébuleuse’, and ‘Laïka’ all have rhythmic instability and very distinctive sounds that transport us to various spatial imaginations. The EP’s final track, ‘Shedir’, balances the harsh rhythms of the chorus with the warm sweetness of the Rhodes, straddling the line between jazz and rock.
