London-based Portuguese and Angolan R&B artist Jodré takes flight with a celestial exploration of love and connection in his latest single, “Angel (From Heaven).”
“Angel (From Heaven)” opens with a promise. A gentle piano melody cascades, setting the stage for Jodré’s arrival. His vocals enter vocalizing, smooth and sensual. Then, the serenity is contrasted with friction and action as bustling beats drop. They inject the track with a shot of electricity. This unexpected shift perfectly captures the electric spark of new love.
Jodré’s voice soars above the beat. He sings with a high yearning, as his voice is layered and beleaguered with a penumbra of echoes bathing him in an airy ambiance and a musical halo. It’s an effect that creates a vast, echoing space for his passionate lyrics to breathe. Each word feels weightless, floating on dreamy clouds of sound and hope.
The lyrics speak of an encounter that transcends the physical, a connection that feels divinely ordained. References to angels and heaven paint a picture of a love so pure and powerful that it seems almost out of this world.
With “Angel (From Heaven)” as his pivot, Jodré begins his new musical eon. It’s the first single from upcoming releases, all building towards an EP expected in early 2025. With Michael Jackson’s smooth vocals and Daniel Caesar’s music as his guides and the contemporary R&B stylings of Brent Faiyaz, Giveon, and The Weeknd inspiring him, Jodré shows that he’s got talent, and also the taste.
