Once fully dipped in the soul, R&B, and pop music, Kelsey Warren, the artist behind Blak Emoji has embraced Punky Electronic music in his remastered and reissued album, “Antidote (Deluxe Edition).” Although fully new, there is another new factor in the album: It’s a bonus track. Falling to the bottom of the album, the bonus track covers Kraftwerk’s “Home Computer.” Let’s find out why the New York-based singer-songwriter, producer, recording artist and multi-instrumentalist, Kelsey Warren thinks this song perfectly suits the album’s theme.
“Fox Trap,” the opening track, immediately sets the tone with its glitchy and gritty beginnings. Eerie background ambiance gives way to pulsating, clinky beats that rhythmically punch through the electronic lines. It’s a bold start to an album that clearly revels in the unorthodox.
“Quarantine,” the second track, features thick, evocative vocals delivering a commentary over glitchy beats vibrating in high frequency. Moving on to the futuristic soundscape to the eighth track, we have “Apocalypse.” The song swirls in sick, quirky waves of lush, unpredictable sounds combined with jerky sharp frequencies. It’s a cacophony that feels like a digital meltdown, encapsulating the theme of a digital apocalypse masterfully.
The bonus track, a cover of Kraftwerk’s “Home Computer,” is a fitting conclusion to this eclectic and thematic futuristic journey with its thick, pumped electronic beats. The album has been remastered and reissued by ECR founder Blake Morgan. He helped bring out the artistic vision of “Antidote (Deluxe Edition)” to reality with the highly immersive 11 tracks.
