Aquarius by Rose Spearman: Review
Rose Spearman’s voice in her love song Aquarius makes you believe in the magic of two souls coming together. It’s like the missing pieces of a puzzle finding their perfect fit in between. It is 3 minutes and 4 seconds of pure bliss and a heavenly medley of modern-esque tunes and harmonizing backing vocals. The sounds depict a great deal of nostalgia for how RnB used to be back in the day, transporting you to a time and place where you wouldn’t want the rhythm to stop.
The song opens with a soothing melody and crisp vocals over syncopated beats – a soft and tranquil experience for hopeless romantics. Thanks to Rose Spearman’s golden silky tone, it is a delight to experience a delicate groove laced with such a rich texture. She is an accomplished musician in her own right, performing both on the violin and the voice in classical and modern traditions. Her songs have a fresh sound with the unusual pairing of instruments and a variety of musical twists.
Spearman isn’t the average person who doesn’t want to discuss her family’s legacy and the complicated stories that made her the person that she is today. Her great-grandmother, a mere white woman united with a black man in the 1940s. It was a relationship that broke new ground and was widely condemned at the time but got told in Spearman’s narrative. There’s a certain charm in her voice, as you search for the source of such a feel-good vibe in your heart – and you simply can’t help but grin ear to ear and play it on repeat!
