Pioneer of Boston trance music, George Bolton has revitalized his project “Trancendental” by returning to his roots with Atomic. Released this May 24, his pulsating collection of tracks is a full-on revival of the 90s techno and trance scene.
Recorded entirely in Bolton’s home studio, Atomic captures the raw, DIY spirit of the early trance movement. The album is a collection of short, punchy tracks, each one a perfectly crafted burst of electronic energy.
Opener “Vapourtrail” throws us headfirst into the party with its revving intro that explodes into a groove so effortless, it’s criminal. Echoing, electrifying synthesized vocals bring an otherworldly cool making you lose yourself in the beat.
“City Of Sin” takes the groove further with hazy vocals singing with echoing reverb as the music builds suavely with a smug attitude. On the other hand, “Euphoria” becomes the heart of Atomic structurally. It keeps the energy high with its atmospheric vibes and driving, vibrant rhythm perfect for a good dance.
“Pop and Lock” offers a more melodic side of EDM, with catchy synth loops getting us down on the dancefloor. The sultry vocals are there to sensualize our feet-tapping experience as well.
Bolton builds the last track, “Ancestors” with shimmering waves that swirl and drive the song and raise the affluence and elegance in the song. Then, the beat drops, and a warm undercurrent tops it off by swooning you with a serene peacefulness.
Atomic engages with the best of EDM grooves and beats and thrives with Bolton’s genius. With plans to take the project live after a few more releases, George Bolton’s Transcendental is here to break your dance floors. So stay tuned.
