Michellarโs newest single, โAunque por sea una nocheโ (translated as โIf itโs only for one nightโ) is a slow-burning, soul-drenched serenade that wraps around you like a warm breeze on a still summer night. Released July 25th, the track marks Michellarโs first foray into Spanish-language music, thanks to Jiji Picazo. Drawing deeply from her Spanish and Filipino roots, she brings to us a timeless love song that will get us folding.
โAunque por sea una nocheโ opens with soft, tender acoustic guitar strums, backed by gentle percussion that taps just enough to keep time but never distracts. Itโs minimalism done right with just enough instrumentation to hold up the emotional weight of the lyrics without getting in the way. And then comes the voice. Jiji Picazoโs rich and velvety voice, with a haunting warmth that lingers in the air like incense. As she sings, every note feels deliberate, every breath purposeful, pulling the listener into this quiet moment of vulnerability.
Michellar wrote the lyrics in English first, then collaborated with Picazo to translate them into Spanish during the recording process at San Franciscoโs Womenโs Audio Mission studio. You can tell this was a labor of love, from the lyrics to the vocals. The intimacy in how the words are delivered, singing the lines like, โรกmame, aunque sea por una noche,โ hits you like that fleeting romance of one night that stays with you forever.
Getting inspiration from the classic, โBรฉsame Muchoโ and the stylings of Bocelli and Santana, the track dances between old-world romance and contemporary soul. Michellar proves she can channel deep cultural memory into modern, moving music. Check it out on YouTube to find all the lyrics rolling.
