Born out of the gritty, beating heart of Burton On Trent, England, โBorn2graftโ is the newest original single from Mukka & the Wizard Sleeves. This fiercely independent collective is made up of Mukka, dingle, Joe, Tamu, Riley, and Huw.
Released last Dec 5 and recorded locally at Electric Fields with mastering by Thomas Marshal, the track punches through with the spirit of DIY punks and the rebellious energy shaped by influences like Riskee and the Ridicules and Rage Against the Machine. This is an anthem built for the working-class who keep the world spinning while discrimited.
Once โBorn2graftโ starts rolling, the grinding, gritty, deep, grungey guitars riffing heavily set the tone straight away, soaked in attitude and street-level honesty. The artist comes in with that sharp husky voice, and he raps tensely with righteous anger, like every word is dragged out of real-life frustration. Meanwhile, the drummer doesnโt let up, because the drums thump hard and the cymbals splash and push the track forward with industrial momentum. His lines spitย out, so you can feel the bite when he hits with the, โControlled by the 9 to 5/I need money/You survive.โ He gets more realistic, saying, โThey say itโs our system/They want us to obey.โ
Mukka & the Wizard Sleeves rally, rage, and remind everyone listening that purpose and community still matter more than clocking in and shutting up.
