20 Year Short Break shows us how to express our anger and frustrations with EP”Bring it on.” It is an adrenaline-packed musical expression spanning four raging and passionate anthems.
The title track, “Bring it on,” takes the rein with an anthemic, energetic delivery. The guitar riffs drive the frustration out while the crashing drums pin our negativity down. The titular track introduces us to the EP with its appropriately high-octane start.
The second track, “Heavy on My Soul” begins with the vocalist’s voice with a muffling sound effect. This musically reflects how he bears his burden behind a wall of raging guitars brewing the buildup. The song builds up to release this numbing effect. The track releases pent-up frustrations and compels us to embrace its sonic outlet.
Next up is “Hail to All the Monsters”. The song is more gritty and grungy. The song starts with thick and low vocals. They carry a rumbling confidence and gradually build energy. This track delves into the idea that the inner demons or “monsters” we face in our minds can be our driving force. They push us so we learn how to stand up.
The anthemic track “Under the Moon, Under the Sun,” wraps up the EP with an uniting force. It’s musically more melodic. It comfortingly unites everyone, despite their differences to find the strength they can share to uplift others.
“Bring it on” by 20 Year Short Break will be a hard miss for rock music lovers.
