Capella Grey’s ‘Gyalis’ gets a ‘Shemix’ from Chlöe Bailey. The video, which was first posted as an impromptu live performance on Chlöe’s Instagram, immediately racked up over three million views.
Capella Grey has tapped singer/songwriter Chlöe Bailey for the official “Shemix” of his super-hit tune “Gyalis” ahead of his upcoming Ty Dolla $ign-assisted single “OT.”
Originally posted on Chlöe’s Instagram as an impromptu live performance, the video quickly surpassed three million views and became a viral sensation, with celebrities such as Tracee Ellis Ross, SZA, Fivio Foreign, and others demanding an official version.
“Gyalis” has become synonymous with summer thanks to its lush melodies and playful energy, and this new rendition further adds to those sensations. Chlöe matches Capella’s intensity on “Gyalis,” adding her own risqué bars over the instrumental, which samples Juvenile’s legendary “Back That Azz Up.”
Grey followed up “Gyalis” with “Confujawn,” a compelling new song released in March. Nija, an emerging performer who shows her distinctive sensuous voice, was featured on the addictive R&B anthem.
On “Confujawn,” Grey reveals a more introspective, vulnerable side. Grey’s “Confujawn,” with its rich melodies and sensual voice, demonstrates that he has songs for everyone. If “Gyalis” was a no-holds-barred club song, “Confujawn” sees the rising star dealing with a tough relationship with maturity. Grey sings over a tinny guitar line and boom-bap drumming, “Like what we’re doing, no more games.” “I told you not to peek over my shoulder since we’re getting older.”
The video for the song begins with a candid talk between Grey and Nija discussing their relationship. They eventually decide to take advantage of a long night out in Los Angeles, which is filmed in gloomy, elegant lighting as they exchange rhymes.
Grey has established a modern yet nostalgic R&B style that appeals to fans of all ages. With “Gyalis'” massive success (over 300 million combined streams, No. 1 at Urban Radio, No. 38 on the Billboard Hot 100), it’d be a no-brainer to expand on the formula. Grey, on the other hand, isn’t your normal artist. “Confujawn” is a song that is just as instantly catchy as “Gyalis,” but from an entirely different perspective.
