Chok Kerong & Vanessa Fernandez release enchanting new song ‘Don’t You Walk Away’
Following the success of their first joint single, ‘Cry’, Singaporean producer Chok Kerong and singer-songwriter Vanessa Fernandez have announced the release of ‘Don’t You Walk Away’, which went on sale on Thursday, January 26, 2023, across all major digital streaming platforms.
The song begins with a choir of Vanessa’s and her cousin Alemay Fernandez’s overdubbed voices before launching into an aggressive bare-bones groove for the first few lines: “You won’t pick up the phoneโฆ I recognize your residence.” As the song progresses, Chok skillfully incorporates funk, blues, and soul into the production by fusing the Rhodes electric piano, B-3 organ, clavinet, and guitar.
We’ve all encountered the unpleasant aspects of close relationships, whether they be between parents and children, siblings, friends, or romantic partners, as expressed in the chorus of ‘Don’t You Walk Away’, according to Chok. Any one of us could be the person shoving the other away or walking out in frustration.
