“Christmas in my Soul” by Glenn Valles is the perfect Christmas song with optimistic lyrics, bells and chimes, and a classic Christmassy melody. The song captures the essence of the season, and with its very Christmas-oriented music video, it encapsulates the atmosphere and joy that the season and celebration entail.

The song starts off with the lyric, “I get a sentimental feeling every time Christmas is near.” This is a good introductory line, as the classic melody and chord progression used throughout the song are common in most Christmas songs from the 40s to the present day. Additionally, when Christmas celebrations commence, everyone is in a nostalgic, sentimental mood. Everyone is decorating their houses, packing presents for loved ones, and baking and cooking delicious meals for neighbors, friends, and family. This feeling of happiness and festivity is perfectly expressed by the second line of the song, “No matter how the year turned out, this season brings me cheers.” Glenn Valles does a stellar job of creating a joyful mood and tone with his lyrical and melodic choices.

There isn’t a moment of melancholy or negative emotion throughout the song. That doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t negative emotions linked to the holiday for some people. Some people don’t like this holiday, and some may have hurtful memories connected with Christmas. But Glenn Valles doesn’t dwell on the negative aspects of the holiday and instead fills the song with positive messages and emotions.
