Pork Pie has released their propulsive new single, “CITY LIGHTS,” this Dec 7 from their upcoming album, Golden Leaf Sheets. The single is a contagious and energetic amalgamation of garage, funk, and psychedelia.
Kicking off with a burst of drifting and melodic gritty electric guitar, “CITY LIGHTS,” immediately captures attention with its gritty graze. The thumping drums set a driving rhythm, creating a sense of momentum that propels the song forward.
Michael Stafford delivers the song with a sultry, anthemic passion with a psychedelic hazy strain in his voice. Recorded at Dundalk’s Lockup Recording Studio, the song maintains an energetic and engaging atmosphere. At the same time, it also feels like you are listening to a live band jamming from a mountaintop. Having gigged extensively and played at various festivals and music venues across Europe, the band showcases a seasoned and confident musicality.
Engineered by Pete Rust, and mastered by Fergal Davis, the production was brough to an appealing veal. The catchy and sexy vibe of the song is coupled with its effortless drive and persuasion, making it a standout piece from the upcoming album.
The single tells us much about Pork Pie’s upcoming album, Golden Leaf Sheets. Finally released, “CITY LIGHTS” sets the stage for an eagerly anticipated album in early 2024. Fans can expect more genre-blending excellence from this Irish four-piece, making them a band to watch in the contemporary alternative eclectic rock scene. Stay tuned for the big release and more musical adventures from Pork Pie.
