With album artwork featuring visceral imagery of rats as symbols of societal decay, Splinterโs latest release embodies the gnawing effects of the unchecked, relentless cycle of overconsumption and ethical decline. Londonโs modern punk firebrand Splinter are igniting the airwaves with their explosive new album, Click. Swipe. Buy., released in Spring 2025. Brimming with sharp satire, relentless energy, and raw, crunchy riffs, this release delivers a wake-up call to a generation consumed by screens, social media, and instant gratification.
Kicking off with the title track โClick. Swipe. Buy.โ, the band launches a full-throttle assault on consumerism. The guitars grind with menacing buzz, and the drums hit like a demolition crew while frontman Mark Marvenโs voice shifts from low and simmering to a furious, guttural howl. The repeated refrain, โClick. Swipe. Buy. / Consume and die,โ sticks like glue, a rallying cry for anyone fed up with mindless scrolling and shopping carts.
Then comes โGet A Jobโ, the bandโs cheeky yet ferocious middle finger to hustle culture. Itโs satirical gold with the line โI donโt want a job, I want everything,โ followed by the gang-vocal chant of โEVERYTHING!โ The guitars sprint through the track while the drums thunder beneath.ย ย The narrator wants to be everything: a rockstar, an internet sensation, and whatnot, even a wife, a girlfriend, and a side piece.
But the group doesnโt stop at social media swipes and superficiality. โArms Raceโ goes in hard on the contemporary military-industrial greed, with soaring vocals and roaring instrumentals that feel like a siren going off in your conscience. โThis is an arms race / Your disgrace,โ Marven belts, leaving no doubt about the target. Not sure yet? Hereโs a better clue: he is singing about whatโs happening right now, one country dropping bombs around the world and selling war.
Behind the scenes, this albumโs been given the VIP treatment with engineering by Andy Hughes, mixing by Grammy-winning mixer, engineer, and record producer Caesar Edmunds, and mastering by Katie Tavini. Splinter may have crawled up from Londonโs gritty depths, but with Click. Swipe. Buy., theyโve lit a Molotov cocktail and thrown it straight at modern lifeโs glasshouse. Check it out on Spotify.
