Clickbait Merchants by Ruud Voesten: Review
Jazz is the epitome of instrumental mastery in music. It is a well-respected genre, with a deep-rooted history that has influenced many artists in the modern day. This brings us today to musician Ruud Voesten and his excellent jazz piece “Clickbait Merchants.”
Ruud is a fantastic drummer at heart and has an intelligent sense of time signatures. This is evident in “Clickbait Merchants,” and I was completely enchanted by the composition. Aside from that, he is joined by members Mo van der Does on the Alto saxophone, Wietse Voermans leading the Tenor sax, Koen Schalkwijk on the Grand piano, and Tijs Klaassen grooving out on the Double bass. Together, this merry band of musicians creates a lovely melodic aura of free jazz, a bit of bebop, and just an all-around exciting trip down jazz avenue. The song is an experience, and just like the genre’s spontaneous aspects, it overflows with fast-paced sections that keep us glued to the sound. It impresses me how well jazz artists maintain the tempo with such variety. I’m a musician myself for over a decade, and the genre has always inspired me to keep practicing and doing my best day after day. That being said, I think Ruud’s song will spark the same amount of intrigue in you as well, folks.
If you like jazz music or are a jazz artist yourself, then definitely check out “Clickbait Merchants” by Ruud Voesten. It’s got a melodic diversity and engrossing sound that you’ll pick up on instantly, and enjoy till the last minute.
