If you’re craving a sultry, bold, and globe-trotting experience, DJ SAvvy’s new EP Come Closer is calling your name. This 4-track project is a rich, rhythmic cocktail of Afrobeat, UrbanKiz, and ghetto zouk, stirred together with the finesse of an artist who knows exactly what she’s doing. And with features from Neyvaldo, Ky Sheny, YnG Cole, and Ydcem Ave, it’s safe to say DJ SAvvy has come to move us.
Right out of the gate, “Ta Dom de Mais” sets the tone with glimmering, sharp-edged instrumentals and thick, grounded beats. The smooth, high, and euphoric vocals float on top, delivering joy like sunlight on water. Backing harmonies wrap around the track like silk, lifting it to something almost spiritual. Then comes “Navelar,” dialing things down into a more intimate register. It opens with sensual humming, soft melodies, and a stuttered, shaky rhythm that comes like butterflies in your chest.
Just when you think you’ve got the vibe figured out, “Hinga Buya” kicks the door down. It’s a whole different animal: gritty, confident, and catchy as hell. The vocals are sharp and cocky, practically daring you not to bob your head. The beat is clean but punchy, with just the right amount of menace. And then, sliding in like a breeze through an open window, the title track “Come Closer” brings the EP full circle. Dreamy synths shimmer in the background while a distinct, high-register voice sings you into a trance. The steady beat grounds the song, but the vocals lift it into something downright enchanting.
With Come Closer, DJ SAvvy isn’t just showcasing global sounds—she’s fusing them into something entirely her own. It’s an EP that makes you feel, sway, and maybe even fall in love a little.
