Libby Akermanโs debut EP, Conversations, released on November 17, is the most candid and introspective expression.
The opening track, โConversations,โ sets the tone with its confessional and transparent lyricism. In her opening lines: โbeen having conversations, getting lost in my own head/I am lacking concentration, maybe I will go back to bed/I have not achieved anything, wasted the day away,โ Libby Akerman frustratingly and defeatedly expresses her inner thoughts and struggles. The immersive electronic soundwave submerges themselves in the emotional narrative.
โWindow Seat,โ the second track, unfolds with contemplative slow guitars and minimal instrumentals. The lyrics portray the artistโs pandemic-induced blues and longing with standout lines like โif you want me, you know where Iโll be, I will be sad on the same window seat.โ The track has garnered praise and airplay on Liverpool and Merseyside BBC Introducing radio shows.
Conversations ends with, โWandering the City,โ which has a despondent yet lazy tone. Libby Akerman expresses the hopeless romantic within with some exemplary poignant lines like, โโฆI will still miss you when I am wandering the city alone.โ Meanwhile, the rhythmic drums and relaxing musical elements create a stream-like flow.
Libby has been gaining traction in the music scene partly due to her performances at iconic Liverpool venues, including The Jacaranda. On the other hand, her growing acclaim is underscored by features by BBC, Worcester, Artist of the Week label, and Radio 1 Introducing Live Lounge shortlisting.
Fans of Fleetwood Mac and Elton John, as well as contemporary artists like Joy Crookes and Eloise, will love Libby Akerman and her debut EP Conversations.
