Crucial by Penny: Review
Ready to hear an experimental pop recommendation for the day? Iโll get you hooked on an artist on the horizon. Pennyโs first single as both a producer and a performer is called โCRUCIAL,โ and it was published on Thanatosis. Sheโs all about gritty vocals and dirty electronica.
The artistโs singing has a tone of humor and a reflective pulse to the cadence, but the overall soundscape is deep and foreboding, driven by buzzing synth bass and rhythmic click-clacks, creating a gloomy art-pop vibe. The mysterious background and eerie vocal interplay make it intriguing. The lyrics, which are โabout being turned from situations of paralyzing worry, back to life again, owing to particular words from someone else,โ are just as captivating as the vocals, which are subdued in tone and dynamically layered to maximum effect. Pennyโs distinctive voice and the albumโs dark, moody sound have put the artist on my radar. Penny sings in hushed tones about doing away and sitting in the excrement as a foul sound mingles with powerful bass and odd noises. Also, how hearing the right words at the appropriate moment may help you rise beyond a crippling fear and grow out stronger than before.
โCrucialโ has already gained quite a popularity on Spotify, and rightfully so. If you decide to give this artist a listen, be sure to let us know about your thoughts too!
