Days On Days by The Max Headroom: Review
I need a show of hands for being the devil of prolonging a precious moment and overthinking that just ruins it for you altogether. Well, sometimes you have to read the room, take in the moment and go with the flow even if it’s hard for you.
In the case of The Max Headroom, “Days On Days” is like playing with fire in your head, trying to squeeze more out of a situation than what’s written in fate. It brings to life a situation where instead of being present, our thoughts can sometimes make a simple situation more difficult. It’s a song that ends up tearing apart a joyful moment, and it does it in a way that casts a shadow over it. The Australian band The Max Headroom lets loose a psych-influenced song as they lose their collective minds in a quest to find significance in a quiet night in. A subtly unwinding tense melody sets the stage for music built on hesitation. Guitar and bass lines that are dark and somber reflect the ambiguity that comes from being too analytical. And as the song progresses, the intensity rises, mirroring the listener’s own mounting feelings of resentment.
So, if you’re into alt and grunge packed into gritty yet passionate vocals, I would highly recommend this rock ballad in a heartbeat!
