Don’t Talk To Strangers by Rogue FX: Review
Andrew Wood, as Rogue FX, is from the North East of England. He has previously played in the synth-pop band Please during the late ’80s and the house music group Bass Value during the early ’90s. In the iconic track reminiscing the sounds of the 1980s “Don’t Talk to Strangers”, the tale of a rich girl who rejects her privileged upbringing in favor of a life in the city, hustling for a living, adopts the motto “Don’t Talk to Strangers” as her personal code for staying safe on the streets.
Now, about the song itself, “Don’t Talk To Strangers” is truly a spectacular synth wave hit. It seems that the popularity of this genre has surged, due to pop culture and cinema. Andrew sure has a distinct sound in which he misses catchy vocals, a saxophone arrangement made of pure gold, dynamic synth effects, and a beat structure that perfectly aligns with everything. The song itself has perfect energy and tempo. I genuinely enjoy the instrumentation from the chord structure of the synths and keyboards, ’cause it sounds like utter magic. The melodies and arpeggios played on the track are a throwback to the 1980s and 1990s.
“Don’t Talk To Strangers” paves the way for an enamoring tale to prevail as the soundscapes of synth wave settle in. It is absolutely mesmerizing and will put anyone in a state of trance. There is a bassline that acts as the bloodline of the song and transitions perfectly in accordance with each instrument.
