Echo by Lévie: Review
The alt-pop singer-songwriter Lévie doesn’t shy away from telling his baby what she really means to him despite sometimes sounding extra in his new single Echo.
Echo is a joyful, engaging, and highly upbeat pop song with elements from rap and hip hop we typically see in a Lévie song. It was inspired by the idea that everyone should be having a good time at all times when he wrote it. This song is about the urge to express to someone you care about how much they mean to you, even if it feels repetitive or monotonous. Its energetic catchy beats and arrangement make you want to bop your head and offer a message that attempts to find humor in all circumstances in a very light-hearted way.
Quotable Lyrics:
“Sick and tired of being wrong
So I put it all in this song
I said I love you
I love you, I love you, I love you,
I love you, I love you,
Like in an echo
Like in an echo”
Lévie in his typical songwriting fashion blends sounds from different genres to create fun upbeat songs that “doesn’t take itself too seriously”. Sometimes this is an ongoing theme with his lyrics too. In this song, we see no matter how corny or extra he sounds he does not shy away from showering his baby with compliments and assurance of his feelings. There is something innately innocent and beautiful about this whole thing– a childlike plain honesty stripped away of all dogma. Whether this was intentional or not, it doesn’t take away from the fact there’s this innate beauty that underlies repetitiveness like this.
