Award-winning guitarist, composer, and producer Ari Joshua released his sweetest imagination, “Elephant Walk,” on January 26th. With this single, he has invited us into vintage joys as a young elephant enlightens itself to travel in shades of jazz and blues.
The track features an impressive lineup of jazz icons, including John Medeski on electric organ and Billy Martin on drums, giving us the components to build the parallel world. From the opening notes, the song gets playful and nostalgic with fat guitar tunes much like that of the elephant’s trunk sound through the jungle.
The percussion, adorned with cowbell, adds a polyrhythmic intrigue reminiscent of New Orleans funk, infusing the track with a sense of movement and vitality. As the piano dances with nimble keys, it conjures images of raindrops patterning against the backdrop of a vintage cartoon jungle, adding to the enchanting atmosphere of the piece.
Joshua and his partners dreamed up the whole scene for us in the universal language of music. The tale would be incomplete and unpolished without the engineering, mastering, and mixing of the track by Chris Bitnner, Ed Brooks, and Ari Raskin, respectively.
Available on all major streaming platforms, Ari Joshua has opened our eyes and ears to the magical and simplistic sweetness of “Elephant Walk.” As the song unfolds, it leaves a lasting imprint, much like the creature it seeks to embody. “Elephant Walk” is the kind of instrumental that resonates deeply with audiences across genres, genders, and ages.
