Ellen Letts released enchanting new song ‘Through the Dark’

Ellen Letts, a singer-songwriter from Scarborough who now resides in Vancouver, releases their self-titled debut album. The music on the album is like a musical buffet, showcasing Ellen’s diverse Filipina-Canadian upbringing. It includes heartfelt piano ballads with soaring vocals that bring to mind her family’s favorite karaoke nights, classic rock songs with ripping guitar solos that bring to mind the music she grew up listening to on her Canadian father’s favorite radio station, and even some upbeat pop to close the album on a positive note. The album includes songs from as early as 2007 to 2020, with the most recent song being the final track, ‘Through the Dark’.
The song ‘Through the Dark’ was written on the spur of the moment and added at the last minute to the album. She thought the album was finally finished once it was recorded and mastered because it added something brisk and slightly more contemporary that complemented the album’s medley of some of my favorite genres as a child growing up in the 1990s and 2000s. Ellen admired the song’s ease of use and accessibility as well as the way the vocals and guitar interact to produce the song’s melodic echo chamber.
Ellen plans to continue developing as a singer-songwriter and experimenting with various styles and genres after the release of this album.
