Emerging by Adub Nati: Album Review

Spirituality, devotion, and flow are all present to the fullest in rapper Adub Nati’s album “Emerging.” If you’ve got that itch for old-school hip-hop backed up by natural neo-soul, then all the music from this album is right up your alley!

There’s such a powerful connection between soul music and hip-hop. Several years ago I came across an artist by the name of Nujabes, his style was all about mixing piano-driven neo-soul melodies with featuring rappers. So, my love for hip-hop grew after that. With that being said, it is a treat to witness Adub Nati in action, as the artist’s rap prowess is sensational and tracks like “Battling Time” is a true testament to that notion. The music involves this looping instrumental that sounds a bit like lofi guitars, and accompanying is a smooth beat sequence. Just when I thought the flow couldn’t get any smoother, a jazzy presence enters the scene in “Gotta Look Deeper”. Adub’s passionate rapping and the conversational tone of his music are a perfect vibe.

The advent of spirituality is truly felt throughout the album, but when the track “Waiting on a Word” arrived a whole other spectrum of melodies came forth. First of all, the music is bright and hopeful, it has a nice vibration that is tough to ignore. Blending synthesizers with a minimal bassline and beats to complement Adub’s resonating ode is a remarkable thing to hear.
