Dropping on August 25th, 2025, shimmerglistenโs Equanimity is a meditation turned into music, an ambient journey that blurs the line between the human and the elemental. Behind the project is multi-award-winning producer and environmentalist Tim Rabjohns, who has built a career crafting sound worlds for film, television, and major brands. But here, he strips it all down to a two-track improvisation inspired by the birth of his daughter and the sacred rhythms of nature itself. With minimal vocals by Jo Maskell, the album becomes a sonic love letter to life, to the Earth, and to quiet moments that speak volumes.
The first track, โEquanimity (Birds),โ begins like dawn breaking in a hidden forest. Birds chatter softly, water lap gently running through the valley, while a relaxing hymn-like operatic voice echoes through the woods. Soon, frogs croak in chorus, weaving into a lush, layered ambience. Itโs the kind of piece where time dissolves, you hear rain patter, faint hisses swell, and the music grows dense, hypnotic, almost otherworldly. Over its 32-minute stretch, it unfolds like a slow breath, inviting stillness even as natureโs pulse keeps beating underneath.
Then comes โEquanimity (Waves),โ the oceanโs counterpart, more darker, more restless, yet equally mesmerizing. Here, crashing waves, howling winds, and ghostly siren-like, ethereal vocals conjure the raw power of water in motion. Itโs like staring into the vastness of the beautiful, terrifying, endless blue. The 29-minute track ebbs and flows, sometimes soothing, sometimes enveloping and inundating, until you feel like youโve been pulled deep under the trenches.
Altogether, Equanimity is an atmosphere, a living experience. Rabjohns channels emotion and motions through the Earthโs own voice. And when the final wave recedes, youโre left quiet, reflective, and a little reborn yourself.
