Mikey La Luna โ The Shaman of the Night โ Artist Bio Mikey La Luna was born between worlds โ at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, where nature breathes rhythm and stories echo through stone. Raised in the mountains of the Caucasus, he trained in the art of Georgian ballet, moving with discipline, fire, and soul. His first journey on stage was as Tash Tash โ a wild, joyful performer remixing traditional Georgian songs with an electrified twist. Blending live folk energy with beats and synths, he brought raw, authentic celebration to global audiences, fusing old-world soul with a flash of electronic rebellion. Check out the exclusive interview below:

1. Your roots can often shape your journey. Can you share a story or moment from your early life that had a significant impact on your path into music?
MIKEY LA LUNA: My roots are Georgian, and Georgia is a culture that celebrates music, rhythm, and dance like itโs in our DNA. Growing up, every gathering was filled with singing, drumming, and movement-it wasnโt something we โdid,โ it was simply who we were.ย
When I later stepped into electronic music and club culture, it felt like a natural extension of that same energy. The dancefloor became my modern ritual space-where the ancient love for rhythm meets hypnotic beats and mantras. Thatโs what shaped my journey: turning cultural heritage into a futuristic, global sound.ย
2. Did your musical journey begin with formal training, or was it more of a personal exploration? How has that shaped your unique approach to your craft?
MIKEY LA LUNA: My journey didnโt start with formal training โ it was more of a personal exploration. I was always drawn to rhythm and the vibration of voices and instruments, and later discovered the power of synthesizers and electronic production.ย
That freedom to explore without rules shaped my approach. I donโt see boundaries between ancient and modern, voice and machine. For me itโs all part of the same ritual- channeling energy into sound and blending ancestral roots with hypnotic electronic grooves in an intuitive way.ย
3. Who were some of the most influential figures in your early musical life, and how did they inspire your sound? Also, whatโs the story behind choosing the name โMIKEY LA LUNAโ?
MIKEY LA LUNA: From a young age I was fascinated by so many different styles of music. I grew up listening to everything-from rock โnโ roll, pop, and disco to authentic traditional music. On the radio I would tune in both to oldies programs with songs from the past and to the latest hit parades. I was always curious to discover more: Latin rhythms, French chanson, African sounds. Somehow all these influences blended together in a magical, harmonious way. Today they naturally flow into my love for house and techno-a genre I didnโt even know as a kid, but one that now feels like the perfect canvas for all those inspirations.ย
As for the name, *Mikey* is simply short for Michael, my given name. *La Luna* โ the moon โ represents my wish to spread light in dark places. And in another sense, itโs about being a kind of shaman of the night: guiding people through music, energy, and rhythm under the glow of the moon.ย
4. What do you believe sets your music apart? How would you describe your sound to someone discovering you for the first time, and what emotions or experiences do you hope to evoke in your listeners?
MIKEY LA LUNA: What makes this project different is the way I bring it to life. Itโs not just a DJ set, and itโs not just live vocals- itโs all of it together. I mix, produce, sing, and play instruments in real time, so every show becomes a one-man ritual.ย
The sound itself is a blend of tribal groove and deep techno, but what I hope people feel is the energy of something alive and unpredictable. Itโs not about perfection- itโs about being carried into a space where the beat, the voice, and the moment fuse into one experience.ย

5. Music often transcends entertainment. Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual, and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
MIKEY LA LUNA: For me, music is never just entertainment. It can be cultural, spiritual, and deeply social- it has the power to bring people together and create unity beyond words. I see the dancefloor as a modern ritual space, where rhythm and voice connect us in ways that can be even stronger than spoken prayer.ย
In my work, I choose to focus less on politics or personal drama, and more on light, healing, and connection. The mantras I use are simple but powerful- they open space for each listener to find their own meaning. In that sense, the music becomes a shared ceremony, carrying something ancient into the present while pointing toward a brighter future.ย
6. Do you feel the rewards of your musical career match the energy and passion you invest in it, or are there different kinds of fulfillment youโre still seeking?
MIKEY LA LUNA: This project has only just begun โ itโs really at its very first steps. Iโve poured a lot of time, soul, and thought into it, and I know the journey is only starting to unfold.ย
For me, the biggest reward right now is every single person who connects with the music. Iโm deeply grateful for each listener who feels something in it โ thatโs what gives all the energy Iโve invested its true meaning.ย
7. Whatโs been the most challenging hurdle in either your personal life or music career, and how has it shaped you as an artist?
MIKEY LA LUNA: The biggest challenge has been starting over from zero in the middle of my life. I left behind a project that already had an audience to build something completely new.ย
What I still find hardest is adjusting to the world of social media โ stories, posts, and constant updates. Iโve always preferred living life over documenting it, but today thatโs part of the game, and Iโm learning to adapt.ย
8. On the flip side, what moment or achievement in your career so far has made you feel the proudest, and why? And letโs talk about your latest release and future plans.
MIKEY LA LUNA: One of the proudest moments for me was finally finishing and releasing my debut EP. After years of shaping the sound and vision, it felt like opening the door to a new chapter of my life.ย
But this is only the beginning โ there are already 10 more tracks ready and waiting. My biggest desire now is simple: to take this music to the stage, to as many places and people as possible.
I donโt hide it โ Iโm hungry to perform, to share the energy live, and to let the music keep growing through connection with audiences around the world.ย
9. Creative work in a studio or home environment, or interaction with a live audience? Which of these two options excites you most, and why?
MIKEY LA LUNA: For 15 years I was a stage person โ performing, feeding off the energy of the crowd. Then, creating this project pulled me into two intense years locked inside the studio, building the sound and the vision from the ground up.ย
Now Iโm hungry to be back with the audience. That connection is my fuel, my fire. Nothing compares to the electricity of a dancefloor when the music, the people, and the moment become one. Thatโs the power I live for.ย
10. Do you think is it important for fans of your music to understand the real story and message driving each of your songs, or do you think everyone should be free to interpret your songs in their own personal way?
MIKEY LA LUNA: Thatโs the beauty of mantras. With just a few words, you can tell many different stories. Each listener finds their own meaning โ whether itโs about their inner journey, their past, their roots, or their dreams for the future.ย
I choose not to write about breakups or personal dramas. Instead, I focus on mantras: simple words with deep power, open to endless interpretations. That way the music isnโt just my story โ it becomes everyoneโs.ย
