Neitam Am, an R&B Artist from Southeastern United States, is releasing her debut single โNo Regretsโ on March 26, 2026. Neitam reveals that โNo Regretsโ is an experimental R&B track that builds off a lofi-R&B production. The subject of the song is one she feels is very relatable, but is conveyed from a lens of โhealing,โ something she feels she would like to see more of in R&B. โNo Regretsโ tells the story, in a specific transparency, of an ex-lover realizing the error of foolish actions in love who wants to amend the special bond. The vocal performance is a striking counterpart rooted in her experience as a โchurch girl.โ Her song links her upbringing as the โchurch girlโ and the โlover boyโ inside.
Growing up in the Southern United States, she experienced a heavy influence of having faith in a higher power. This is a key part of her roots that will never fade and that she wishes to build upon in her music. Her explorations in life and love have led her to a place of integration, not wanting to leave any experience neglected or โoff the tableโ from musical expression. Neitam has plans to release more gems building up to her first album. Check out the exclusive interview below:

1. Your roots can often shape your journey. Can you share a story or moment from your early life that had a significant impact on your path into music?
Neitam Am: When I read this question, a very odd moment came to my mind. When I was young, my dad and uncles had (and still have) a gospel band called the Dew Drop Gospel Singers. I remember a moment during childhood when we were attending a practice for the group at my grandmotherโs house. They all had their instruments set up, pianos, bass guitar, lead guitar, microphones, drumsโฆ On that particular day, I was very anxious and my mother held me in her arms. I have been around music since I was in the womb. I was born into it and raised up by it. It would seem that it was inevitable that I would become a musician of some type, but what I think is significant here is the decision to pursue it professionally. I guess the most significant impact is being born into it. It is all I know. The leap to pursue it professionally is an adult leap of faith entirely though.
2. Did your musical journey begin with formal training, or was it more of a personal exploration? How has that shaped your unique approach to your craft?
Neitam Am: I have always loved music, but it wasnโt until I started writing music in college that it became a craft. I am foundationally a singer, but I have never been formally โtrainedโ aside from participating in church and college choirs/ensembles. As far as instruments go, I played the drum set for years, had a few months of lessons in violin, and dabbled with the lead guitar. Personal exploration of music is what gave me courage and belief in myself as a musician. Even though I performed music, I never considered myself a โperformer.โ Performing is a craft in and of itself that I am learning even now. I believe growing up in music has shaped my craft in that I understand that actually being a musician takes effort. Talent can fall into your lap, but you must put effort into it to shape it and guide it along a trajectory and journey.
3. Who were some of the most influential figures in your early musical life, and how did they inspire your sound? Also, whatโs the story behind choosing the name โNeitam Amโ?
Neitam Am: I have to say, my grandmother and grandfather had been very influential. They were actual singers/performers turned family matriarch and patriarch. Their love for family and music trickled down to me as they are my ancestors. Because of their love for me and how they cared for me growing up, love for music is so deeply rooted. It may sound odd, but their character inspires my sound. Their calm, soothing presence and integrity lingers in my craft. I love that you asked about the origins of Neitam Am. The pronunciation is KNEE-TOM AHM. It is actually an homage to the Egyptian primordial Goddess Neith, who I consider to be of ancestral significance. If it had a literal meaning, it would be โAmber of Neith.โ
4. What do you believe sets your music apart? How would you describe your sound to someone discovering you for the first time, and what emotions or experiences do you hope to evoke in your listeners?
Neitam Am: I am truly still developing my sound, but something that sets my music apart is, I believe, the rawness of it. Being an independent artist, I do not have to be bound by an image that a certain label has to uphold. My reputation is mine to shape, therefore, I can be as raw as I want and accept the consequences. I want my music to be centered around growth and healing. The goal is to provide a different perspective in every song that aligns with a new way of viewing or handling situations in life.

5. For most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known as R&B?
Neitam Am: This is a great question. When I first started writing music, I absolutely sucked at it. What really helped me is to study other artistโs music that I enjoyed. Breaking down the structures and lyrics and understanding how they moved me as an individual. My first album was a mash up of different genres: rock, spoken word, christian, etc. I tried it all because I like a lot of different genres. Iโve noticed that as I grow and change as a person, my musical expression does as well. I started out in christian music and have crossed over into R&B/Soul/Hip-hop. They are all true expressions of me.
6. Music often transcends entertainment. Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual, and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
Neitam Am: Have you ever read up on String Theory? There is a theory in quantum physics that the most basic unit of matter is tiny, vibrating strings. In essence, it proposes that the foundation of reality is tiny stringed instruments manifesting the universe. Music is a powerful force in shaping our reality as it connects humanity like language does. My goal in creating music is self-expression and human impact, in whatever form it happens to take. I of course want to entertain as well, but the first two are my main drivers.
7. Do you feel the rewards of your musical career match the energy and passion you invest in it, or are there different kinds of fulfillment youโre still seeking?
Neitam Am: This is very important to consider. I believe many people on the road to success might lose their fulfillment if they compromise on why they started doing it in the first place. There are many things that can throw you off the path of fulfillment. One being succumbing to the pressures of society and throwing off the symbiotic balance between self-expression and providing entertainment. I am just starting out on this venture, but I believe if I keep balance in my expectations and upholding my standards, I will maintain the fulfillment I seek.
8. Whatโs been the most challenging hurdle in either your personal life or music career, and how has it shaped you as an artist?
Neitam Am: The most challenging aspect has been overcoming my anxiety. I have been a victim to social anxiety for most of my life. The reason I have only begun now is because in the past, I understood that I could not be successful unless I was able to become a performer.
So, that prolonged my start. I had to grow and develop and work past many personal issues and limiting beliefs to enable me to get this far in my artistry.
9. On the flip side, what moment or achievement in your career so far has made you feel the proudest, and why? And letโs talk about your latest release and future plans.
Neitam Am: For this first single, I have gotten two offers to be featured in independent magazines, and this has me ecstatic! They are 1111CR3W magazine and TJPL Magazine. I never even considered that possibility and it has allowed me to expand my expectations for what is possible for me. My latest release โNo Regretsโ is my debut single. It tells the story of an individual who realizes they messed up a relationship due to their own self-sabotage and they want to reconcile and be a better person. I wanted to start with something bold and honest to set the tone for my career. My plan is to release a series of singles before I release a full album to see what works best for me.
10. Creative work in a studio or home environment, or interaction with a live audience? Which of these two options excites you most, and why?
Neitam Am: They both excite me for different reasons. Creative work is exciting because I can get lost in the woods by myself so to speak, but interaction with a live audience poses a challenge for me, and I like a good challenge. Creative work is more comfortable for me and is something that will never get old. Performance is a new leg on my journey, but I am growing more into it each time I step on the stage, and that is exciting for me.
