They took a more romanticized approach to the events and activities of Richard Ramirez, also known as the Night Stalker, for this song. Check out the exclusive interview below:
1. Did you have any formal training or are you self-taught?
PRIVATE SCHOOL: We all taught each other. At first it was just Khaki, Ken, Corduroy, and Roger. Now since weโve had the privilege of working with AG0D and Glextacy they have been teaching us an incredible amount, besides Roger heโs not with us currently.
2. What do you feel are the key elements in your music that should resonate with listeners, and how would you personally describe your sound?
PRIVATE SCHOOL: Violence, Love, Passion, Fear, Sex, and Humor. We are the sonic equivalent of a Quentin Tarantino movie โ nothing more, nothing less.
3. For most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known as ROCK?
PRIVATE SCHOOL: Our style is completely our own. Roger has never listened to good music in his life, he was too busy drinking before Church.
4. Do you feel that your music is giving you back just as much fulfillment as the amount of work you are putting into it or are you expecting something more, or different in the future?
PRIVATE SCHOOL: It is all about being in the present for me and although sometimes I slip I always try to remember that and Sammy Jankis. We put in so much work, but we get that fulfillment right back at the end of the day. No mater the external result I truly believe we are nothing less than amazing and regardless of if the world ever sees or gives a fuck I will always believe that.
5. Could you describe your creative processes? How do usually start, and go about shaping ideas into a completed song? Do you usually start with a tune, a beat, or a narrative in your head? And do you collaborate with others in this process?
PRIVATE SCHOOL: It starts with Khaki coming up with words, and Ken Star coming up with chords (he can really only play like 4-5) sufficiently. From their we bring it to Glextacy who usually has to replay Kenโs shitty recording and add more โadvancedโ guitar progressions. After that, we take our demo to AG0DD our master engineer who also helps in production, writing, and arrangement and he usually coaches Corduroy how to properly make a drum track. It is a long process but I wouldnโt want it any other way.
PRIVATE SCHOOL: Dealing with the departure of our Bassist, Roger Clemmons. He went to jail for arm robbery and luckily we found a amazing replacement, Glextacy. He has not only played Bass on all our most recent tracks but also keys & guitar. He is a true musical genius and we are so lucky to have him.
