Seafrontโs โaroundโ echoes the flow of a love letter, the song explores themes of slowing down, gratitude, and choosing what truly anchors us in an increasingly fast-paced world. Rooted in honesty and their DIY ethos, โaroundโ offers listeners a moment of pause โ finding meaning not just in love, but in the journey, detours, and quiet moments along the way.
seafront x Birmingham based indie pop project seafront deliver warm, reflective music for slowing down and reconnecting with what matters. Rooted in companionship, simplicity, and a relaxed DIY approach, their debut single โaroundโ is set for release 29th January 2026. Check out the exclusive Interview below:

1. Your roots can often shape your journey. Can you share a story or moment from your early life that had a significant impact on your path into music?
seafront: Our path into music came from a collection of early memories instead of any one moment. A lot of it came from music simply being a part of our everyday lives, from cdโs in the car, to your set of headphones. Those kind of memories are fundamental to what music means and does for us today.
2. Did your musical journey begin with formal training, or was it more of a personal exploration? How has that shaped your unique approach to your craft?
seafront: All of us took part in some form of formal training, but there was always space for a more relaxed, exploratory approach. It helped us all to learn what kind of music we wanted to make and find our own definitions of what music meant to each of us.
3. Who were some of the most influential figures in your early musical life, and how did they inspire your sound? Also, whatโs the story behind choosing the name โseafrontโ?
seafront: Individually, our influences turn into a mixing pot ranging from Paul McCartney, Andy Rourke, Steve Gadd to the Arctic Monkeys. It was artists like Mac DeMarco, Vacations and Tame Impala we all bonded over. That sun-washed, lo-fi indie pop influence is central to us as a group.
The name seafront felt like a natural fit for us, it took us about 5 minutes to decide on what to call the group. It represents openness, calm, and looking ahead. As a band we try to be open about who we are and what we want from it. The idea of movement and horizon in the name reflects both our sound and where we want to be.
4. What do you believe sets your music apart? How would you describe your sound to someone discovering you for the first time, and what emotions or experiences do you hope to evoke in your listeners?
seafront: What sets our music apart is its DIY, homemade nature. Weโre not interested in trends or relying on big studios โ we make music in familiar spaces, focusing on simplicity, honesty, and enjoying the process of creating together. It keeps everything grounded.
Our sound is laid-back, melodic, and spacious lo-fi indie pop. Weโre creating music people can relax and relate to, commenting on everyday experiences; slowing life down, and staying connected to the people around you. While our songs have meaning, we like leaving space for people to interpret them how they choose, hopefully finding the same sense of calm we find in making them.

5. For most artists, originality is first preceded by a phase of learning and, often, emulating others. What was this like for you? How would you describe your own development as an artist and music maker, and the transition towards your own style, which is known as INDIE?
seafront: Like most artists, our early development involved learning by emulating the music we loved. That phase acted as a stepping stone rather than an end goal. Over time, we became more focused on independence โ writing, recording, producing, and releasing our music ourselves โ which allowed us to move toward something that felt more authentic to us. That mentality is whatโs allowed our sound to feel genuinely ours.
6. Music often transcends entertainment. Whatโs your view on the role and function of music as political, cultural, spiritual, and/or social vehicles โ and do you try and affront any of these themes in your work, or are you purely interested in music as an expression of technical artistry, personal narrative, and entertainment?
seafront: Music is about escape, but also reassurance. Itโs a reminder that no matter what life throws at you, thereโs always a light. That belief sits at the heart of what we do โ seafrontโs all about family.
Weโre focused on creating music that offers comfort and connection. We want our songs to feel like a safe place โ something people can find a sense of calm in.
7. Do you feel the rewards of your musical career match the energy and passion you invest in it, or are there different kinds of fulfillment youโre still seeking?
seafront: The biggest reward we prize is being able to keep making music weโre genuinely proud of together. Hearing a finished track come together or stepping on stage makes all the smaller steps feel worthwhile and that sense of progress is hugely fulfilling.
Of course, like any band, we still have things weโre working towards. Playing bigger rooms, touring are ambitions that weโre pushing toward. For us, itโs about balancing those goals with the simple enjoyment of creating music as a group of mates.
8. Can you walk us through your creative process? From the first spark of an idea to the finished track, whatโs the most essential part of your process, and how do collaboration or external influences shape your work?
seafront: Pretty much all of our songs start from Oli, he usually comes to us with something on keys or acoustic guitar. Everyone then brings their own interpretation to it, bringing the track to life together. Then, weโll develop a rough demo in the flat and it all goes from there.
Collaboration is the most essential part of our process. Each of us adds something someone else wouldnโt; and those individual touches are what make it a seafront tune.
9. Whatโs been the most challenging hurdle in either your personal life or music career, and how has it shaped you as an artist?
seafront: Weโve all faced our own challenges, whether thatโs mental health, family, or relationship struggles. Whatโs shaped us most is understanding itโs ok to lean on, and be leaned on by each other to make sure no one deals with those things alone. Naturally, seafront became a way for all four of us to convey those channel those emotions into something more positive. Hopefully people will get the same experience as a listener.
10. On the flip side, what moment or achievement in your career so far has made you feel the proudest, and why? And letโs talk about your latest release and future plans.
seafront: Getting this single out is definitely our proudest achievement to date. Weโve handled everything ourselves, from the production to the promotion, and getting it out into the world feels like a real milestone.
Weโre excited to keep building โ playing more shows, releasing more music, and seeing where we go in the future. Making music with people we consider family is what matters most to us, and thatโs what weโre most proud of.

11. With social media having a heavy impact on our lives and the music business in general, how do you handle criticism, haters, and/or naysayers in general? Is it something you pay attention to, or simply ignore?
seafront: We understand that by putting ourselves out there, youโre going to be subject to criticism. Not everyone is going to connect with what we do, and thatโs completely fine. Weโve been fortunate to receive a positive response so far, but no, we donโt let negative opinions affect us.
At the end of the day, we focus on enjoying the process and doing what we love. As long as the music feels honest to us, outside noise isnโt going to stop us from making it.
12. Creative work in a studio or home environment, or interaction with a live audience? Which of these two options excites you most, and why?
seafront: Seafront began in our home studio. It is where our friendship, music and talent first came about. It allows us to create our music without pressure or time limits. Yet, the excitement of having interactions with a live audience excites us massively. The connection from both is incredible and is something we cannot wait to see progress.
13. Do you think is it important for fans of your music to understand the real story and message driving each of your songs, or do you think everyone should be free to interpret your songs in their own personal way?
seafront: We see it as a balance. The meaning behind each song is important to us as writers, and itโs always special when that message resonates with someone listening.
At the same time, we think itโs just as important that listeners feel free to interpret the songs in their own way. Everyone brings their own experiences to music, and those personal interpretations is what makes music unique and meaningful.
