Found Myself by Poison Oak: Review
North Queensland, Townsville pays homage to the delightful indie band Poison Oak. All four members contribute to a distinct melodic sound in the charming number “Found Myself.” The song revolves around adulthood, finding content in oneself, and a genuine reflection upon the more simple aspects of our lives.
Poison Oak’s composition style pertains to the flow of indie rock. At times their tempo in “Found Myself” has a catchy vibe connecting the tropes of pop music and at other times a more sentimental coming-of-age sound is present. The latter bit is especially true in the energetic riff sections that lie on a particular scale full of emotions. This central point is what I admire most about playing the guitar. Because, you could play a plethora of notes, yet the structure could sound bland. Accompany the right selection of major and minor sections and a fantastic balance may ensue. So, at specific points of “Found Myself”, the guitar bits truly resonated with the emotional theme of the song.
The chorus segments of the song were powerful and had a deep embodiment. It all sounded like a close group of friends enjoying the playful rejoicing of a melody. A heartfelt interlude comes forth near the end, and the band comes together for one last push. It leads to an epic crescendo which is a perfect way to exit the number. Altogether, Poison Oak captures that feel of indie rock exceptionally, and their song should definitely be on your radar.
