Fragments by Maria Weissman: Review
Singer-songwriter Maria Weissman presents a chilled-out pop aroma in the tune โFragments.โ Covering the air of melodies with a subtle piano piece, and some light cello arrangements, Mariaโs track has a very emotive grip, that is delightful to hear from start to finish.
The track has a notion of tranquility in and around it. This is especially true for the synergy between the vocalist and the instrumental elements. When the verse enters, we are greeted by a softly spoken piece where the production towards the voice sounds a bit like shoegazing. Eventually, when the rising tension of the piano and strings fade, a beautiful acoustic melody graces our ears. It is at this point that Maria opens her voice further incorporating light falsetto elements fitting the depth of the music and cadence.
In โFragmentsโ, we grasp pieces of the artistโs creativity. Thereโs a vision in my head pertaining to theatre, where this track would connect remarkably. Each stage lighting mechanic could have a dimmer and brighter take on the specific segments of the tune. So, in my opinion, the heartfelt vibe of the track can make audiences truly immerse themselves in a piece of drama if the theatrics of โFragmentsโ would be on display. While hearing the verse pieces, the captivity slowly grows and holds your soul tight. Once the brighter acoustic parts enter, it has a rather refreshing movement of voice and rhythm that cleanses the experience completely.
