Laura Wamba ignites the scene with her single, “French Kiss,” a captivating blend of R&B and Urban Pop. “French Kiss” takes her unspoken feelings and makes it sexy. As it often is, with bantering flirtations and ego holding us back from taking our chances.
Musically, “French Kiss” is a masterclass in creating an immersive soundscape, thanks to Thomas Salvatore. Lush, atmospheric elements overflow our ears with immersion only for head-bobbing grooves fueling us up with hard-hitting beats. It is like being immersed and exhilarated. It feels like you are hypnotized by the current. Then there’s the warm trombone tunes that inject comfort into the soundscape. Meanwhile, the melodies weave and sway along, floating on top.
Wamba’s vocals are a force to be reckoned with. Sultry and playful, they seamlessly shift from a sexy husk to soaring highs. She has this laid-back, nightclub allure about her that feels genuine and captivating, and makes you swoon in her aura.
The music video, directed by Kilyann Guillaume, is very well-produced. It doesn’t just feature engaging nightclub activities like dancing, smoking, flirting and such, it is also produced very cinematically and artistically. The scenes complement the music very well and amplify its seductive and hypnotic energy.
With a 5-track EP coming later this year, Laura Wamba is an artist to watch. If “French Kiss” is any indication, her future is bright and full of infectious grooves.
