Kodaclips returns atmospherically with their latest single, “Gone is the Day,” rocking and brooding in shoegaze, post-punk, and psychedelia. Released on February 23rd, 2024, this track is the first single from their upcoming second album of the same title.
With production helmed under Kodaclips and mixed and mastered by James Aparicio, “Gone is the Day” immediately immerses you in its ethereal soundscape. From the outset, the track envelops you in breezy, haunting melodies driven by sparkly drums and electric guitar riffs that blaze with otherworldly energy. Alongside, the singer’s high, reverbed vocals trail along the dynamic instrumentals like a ghost and evoke an enigmatic ethereality.
As the song progresses, layers of distortion gradually build and soak the ethereality with darkness. This transition to heavier sounds symbolises the traumas dysfunctional families left behind—what’s impressive is that this auditory representation works!
Accompanying the song is a visually stunning music video directed by Alessandro Mazzoni at the now-decaying video store Hangar in Cesena. Once a trendy spot in the ’90s, the store represents the song’s theme of longing and nostalgia.
Kodaclips, formed in the second half of 2021 by four friends from Cesena, Italy, continues to push the boundaries of their sound with “Gone is the Day.” With their debut album, Glances released back in 2022, Kodaclips is still going on with great success in their music.
Listen to Kodaclips hypnotize you with atmospheric mystique and hazy distorted rock with their latest release, “Gone is the Day.”
