Gosub Coda by Hu11: Album Review
Experimental music is either a hit or miss, but once you get a taste of Hu11’s music you’ll instantly get hooked on their tunes. Thus, “Gosub Coda” is one such album that portrays the experimental side of electronica, and in splendid fashion too. Through the use of vibrant synths, ambient textures are created, which leads to an interesting soundscape to hear. So, folks, join me as I explore the vast rhythms of this delightful artist!
From the mysterious opening track, “It’s Not Up to You,” Hu11 gives us a glimpse of what’s to come next. It initiates with a wild electronica portion where the instrumentals are pretty eccentric, especially the percussions! Along with that, an almost extraterrestrial-like rhythm plays out, and the power of experimental music is felt. Furthermore, an upbeat format will leave you in awe with the track “Metallic Bug Skin.” This funky number is equal parts IDM, alongside the simplicity of minimal house too. Thus, it’s less avant-garde and draws you with an almost pop aura.
“Cells at Work” is an intriguing piece, layered with spooky synth noises. At times, the use of drones is involved, and at other times a more kaleidoscopic rhythm is formed. The mix is fascinating, and the instruments create a chill experimental vibe that’s enriching to hear.
