โHanging Onโ by Eddie Somera is a late-night heart-to-heart set to a hazy island skyline. Based in Waikiki, Hawaii, Eddie is a working musician who gigs six nights a week across Oahu, from restaurants and bars to infinity pools and private events, and that live-earned honesty spills straight into this original single, released on December 28, 2025.
Written and recorded alone in his home studio, the track zooms in on a relationship on the edge, with one person still fully in love, the other halfway out the door, yet somehow still keeping things in limbo. Itโs that painful in-between phase where your gut knows the end is coming, but your heart wonโt let go.
The song is catchy and engaging with a light, fun rhythm. The singer sings soulfully and anguishedly. He sings painfully in his husky high voice. He goes from line to line smoothly. The electric guitar licks bring a sweetness to the music. Underneath, the guitars shimmer with reverb and delay, giving the whole track a dreamy, weightlessness, like memories replaying in slow motion. When the bridge hits, Eddie leans into a blend of wah wah and distortion that makes the guitar sound like itโs crying right along with him, turning the emotional dial up without ever losing the groove.
Lyrically, โHanging Onโ leans into true feelings, with the confusion, the hope, the sinking realization that love might not be enough this time. You can hear that this is something he had to get out of his system. Itโs just that authentic to hear.
In the end, โHanging Onโ is the sound of someone standing on the shoreline of a failing relationship, still calling out into the tide.
