New York-based “pulp-punk” band Dalton Deschain & the Traveling Show returns with their spine-tingling new dance-punk single, “Hell Breaks Loose,” since their 2021 debut album Demons & Dogmen. This comes as a fiery and rebellious anthem bound to get you fist-bumping through any challenge that comes to you.
“Hell Breaks Loose” kicks off with a thumping rhythm of hard-hitting drums that immediately catches your attention, paired with a gritty guitar melody. The vocalist’s sharp, assertive delivery rides smoothly over this, making each line pop against the pulsating beats. As the chorus builds, his voice intensifies, soaring with fierce emotion, amplifying the track’s rebellious energy.
A key moment arrives when the female vocalist enters, singing catchily yet with more feminine richness and softness in her luscious vocals that contrast beautifully with the earlier punk aggression. This dynamizes the singers’ performances and fleshes out the context as the theatrical music swells around her. The constant return to the song’s catchy, head-nodding groove keeps the track dynamic and engaging from start to finish.
The lyrics are fiery and unapologetic, with lines like “You hit your breaking point, now let the demon loose” encapsulating the desperate inner chaos ready to defeat external forces. The Giallo-themed music video, directed by Jack Dentinger, adds to the horror-punk atmosphere with the well-directed séance battle with eerie, 1970s Italian horror aesthetics.
With “Hell Breaks Loose,” Dalton Deschain & the Traveling Show set the stage for the upcoming EP Bodies For The Geek Pit, Part I, which makes up the first half of their sophomore album. Mark your calendars—the EP arrives on October 11.
