Denver-based producer and multi-instrumentalist BEOM steps into his own lane with HOME, a debut album that feels like a fully-formed world. Pulling from jazz roots, K-pop sensibilities, and atmospheric electronic production, he crafts an intimate and expansive space, like late-night thoughts set to shimmering soundscapes. Itโs all self-written and produced too, which makes the emotional throughline hit a little harder.
โSunshineโ kicks things off on a dreamy note, easing you in with rumbling, tumbling beats and soft, glistening melodies that feel like light bouncing off water. Amidst all that, his tender voice enters a little blearily and comes off distant. The lyrics lean into cosmic romance, comparing love to galaxies and warmth across space. It touches upon longing, closeness, and everything in between.
Then โGive It Timeโ shifts gears. The energy picks up with thumping beats and a more rhythmic drive, but the lyrics are way darker than youโd expect. Thereโs this obsessive, almost destructive edge, as he sings, โIโll make your ribcage my last resting place,โ that contrasts sharply with the lightness of the delivery. Itโs catchy, sure, but thereโs a bite underneath, like sugar coating something a little dangerous.
โMy Moon (๋ฌ์)โ closes off HOME, as BEOM blends languages and emotions seamlessly, layering breathy vocals over punchy, hard-hitting beats and melodic textures. He devotes himself to someone, with the lyrics, โI am yoursโฆ you are mine,โ in a hypnotic, entrancing way. Itโs intimate, a little desperate, and deeply romantic all at once.
Across HOME, BEOM plays with contrastโsoft vs. heavy, light vs. dark, distance vs. closenessโand keeps it cohesive. This debut pulls you into their headspace and lets you wander around a bit.
