Fiona Amaka has carved out a reputation for tackling raw human experiences through song, whether itโs betrayal in No Daylight, ghosting in Cowards and Shadows, or social exclusion in In-Club. But her third release of 2025, โHonesty (Psalm 139),โ marks a new turn. Recorded in London with Andy Zanini and polished in Los Angeles under Eric Sanicolaโs vocal production, this is her first step into explicitly Christian songwriting, though the emotional transparency has always been there. Born years ago as a blues-tinged reflection on Psalm 139, the song resurfaced unexpectedly this spring with a brighter melody, tested in her church before she felt called to share it more widely.
The track opens with the warmth of acoustic strums and a steady drum pulse, like that of a heartbeat that grounds each of us before her voice even enters. Fiona, with her intriguing distinctive, high and rich voice, sings heartwarmingly, full of emotion and soulfulness.
In the chorus, she sings, โSo take me to the place of honesty, where you can deal with me, my pride, my pain,โ surrendering her essence to the Almighty for greater good and more peace. While pride has been universally recognized as the evil from which stems injustice and unkindness, pain is what we hold onto our hearts and burden ourselves so much so that we forget that God loves us. The implicit understanding here is that honesty before God is about letting yourself be known, fully, without pretense.
As the melody unfolds, brighter and more uplifting than its bluesy origin, it mirrors the transformation she describes, as the burden lifts and a hidden song is reborn.
Listen to โHonesty (Psalm 139)โ to calm yourself with the feel of spiritual intimacy.
