London’s own Kane Luke, better known as The New Citizen Kane, drops two back-to-back singles, “I Don’t Need To Say (Radio Edit)” and “Eyes Wide Shut,” one already released and the other soon coming out, ahead of his upcoming album Psychedelika Pt. 1, slated for release on November 28 via Citizen Records. Following his earlier gems “San Diego” and “Subconscious,” these tracks bring more nuance to Kane’s evolving universe, one drenched in emotion, self-reflection, and raw human experience.
“I Don’t Need To Say” bursts open with glittering cymbals, deep pulsating beats, and lush synth textures, like a warm electric tide. Kane’s voice rides the rhythm with a tender conviction, singing about love that has matured past infatuation into soulful partnership. He sings, “Sink in your skin, I breathe in your air / I don’t need to say it, there’s no place I’d rather be than here.” His production seamlessly blends underground electronic pulses with pop, making the song shimmer with sincerity and groove.
Then, like flipping a coin, “Eyes Wide Shut” plunges into the darker corners of desire. It hasn’t released yet so from what we know is that here the synths are getting heavier, the bassline more magnetic, as Kane is gonna get menacingly devilish, in that way. With all that seduction going on, it shows how the most irresistible loves are built on illusion. “It’s about the lies we accept, the fire we play with,” Kane admits, and that tension burns through every beat.
Together, the two singles form a perfect yin and yang, with love’s light and its shadow, honesty and denial — a prelude to Psychedelika Pt. 1 that promises to be both emotionally charged and sonically hypnotic. So stay tuned for the upcoming release and the BIG release with The New Citizen Kane.
