Rising San Jose-based artist Eddie Thompson, better known as Crooner Ed, delivers a heartfelt gut punch with his new single โI Wish I Knew,โ released on September 22, 2025. Known for his smooth jazz sensibilities and storytelling charm, Crooner Ed trades swing for soul this time around, offering a deeply emotional ballad about the ache of unrequited love. You know, you have been there, wishing for the right words to make someone see them differently. Written and composed by Ed himself, the track exposes the vulnerability while pushing them through with the strength that comes with longing.
The song opens with soft, soothing piano notes, played with a restraint that immediately sets the mood. The air feels heavy yet tender, and when Edโs evocative voice enters, itโs almost like heโs confessing in real time. His tone is husky but warm, every syllable dripping with emotion as he sings, โI wish I knew what I could do to make you love me.โ You can hear the sincerity, the tremor in his voice, the breath that catches mid-line. He is feeling every second of the performance.
As the arrangement unfolds, subtle layers emerge, a faint jingle of percussion, gentle acoustic strumming, all weaving together with cinematic simplicity. The musicians, Luis Otรกvio on piano, Davi Mello on guitar and engineering, Felipe Martins on drums, and Pedro Aune on bass, bring a tenderness that complements Edโs raw delivery. Nicolรกs Fernรกndez Verdรบnโs mix and mastering polish it to perfection without losing that organic, lived-in sound.
โI Wish I Knewโ is a late-night confession youโll want to replay long after the lights go out.
