Iceblynk Releases Dreamy New Single “Tragic”
Iceblynk, a band from Queens, New York, released their self-titled EP “Iceblynk” on October 21, 2022 through A Secret Brand. The EP captures who they are now and what to expect from their full-length. It’s also a name-change introduction.
The band has released its debut tune “Tragic” in honor of the news. It is a sweet indie-pop song that beautifully displays vocalist Andrea Lynn’s upbeat vocals and evokes feelings of nostalgia and Martin and James Newman’s skills on multiple instruments. Iceblynk, like the rest of the planet, came to a standstill during the mayhem of 2020. A few months later, after being invited to take part in a direct-to-vinyl recording session at a Greenpoint studio, they got back together and into full swing. They rounded out the original three with two of their musician pals and recorded “Sunshine” and “Seen Gone” in a single take. When Iceblynk got back together, they immediately headed to their basement studio to start working on the tracks that would become their debut extended play.
We chose to release ‘Tragic’ as the introduction to our EP as its driving force and evolving richness of tightly interwoven guitars lock in the listener from the start,” adds vocalist Andrea Lynn. “While the vocal melody has a light and bright feel, the lyrics hint at a growing sense of despair/dissolution, creating a playful dissonance.”
