Ripsime steps into a new era with the re-release of “I’ll Understand,” “Dare,” and “Colours of Your Eyes,” three early works now revived under her new imprint, RIP Records. After a year shaped by the spellbinding releases from Capsule II and a cross-continental creative stretch between Yerevan and London, she’s reclaiming her catalogue, polishing it, contextualizing it, and placing it inside the evolving universe she’s building piece by piece. These tracks mark a return to her foundations while offering a glimpse into the raw, multidimensional artistry she’s refining for her upcoming dual projects: one acoustic and intimate, the other electronic and expansive.
“I’ll Understand” comes as a folksy ballad with soft, gentle guitar strums pulsing delicately against her signature quivering, tender voice, making things soothingly and movingly rich, emotional, and impossibly vulnerable. She sings, “I couldn’t be anybody else’s woman and I hope you understand,” and you can feel the weight of resigned love hanging in the air. The track is stripped to its bones, built on breath and truth, almost too delicate to touch. The title of the track is interesting too, when you see that it has flipped the choral lyrics, making you wonder whose perspective this is on.
Then comes “Dare,” a rock-electronic surge co-written with The Psalms that flips the emotional spectrum. A punchy, catchy rhythm propels the song as she shifts through idiosyncratic, erratic vocal changes and rippling undulating ranges intriguingly transitioned with jagged edges, eerie waves, and sudden softness showing every bruise and boundary. Her voice bites as she throws down the challenge, he shouldn’t dare say he loves her after disappearing without a goodbye. It’s defiant, cinematic, and wonderfully volatile.
“Colours of Your Eyes” softens the edges again, drifting into soft-rock and folk-tinged nostalgia. Dreamy, enchanting guitar plucks glow through the aural field while light percussion shakes like distant wind. Gentle humming rises behind her as she sings in a whispery hush.
Together, these re-releases are reopening a creative portal. With Ripsime creating limited-edition visual prints alongside the music, and new records on the way, she stands firmly as a modern polymath who builds worlds. Check out the marvel on Spotify and be wonder-struck by the intriguing paintings and the painterly music.
