This Aug 19, Grammy Nominated Recording Artist Chris St. John has returned with a hopelessly romantic and introspective new single, “I’m Never Where I Am.”
The song opens with a gentle acoustic guitar melody comfortably strumming away and setting a contemplative and introspective tone. St. John’s gentle and charming vocals come through as he wonders what it was about her that struck him.
His voice is full of emotion yet light-hearted and relaxing, as he sings about longing for a lost love. He sings in the chorus, “I am never where I am, where I want to be/I am never where I am without you here with me.”
“I’m Never Where I Am” builds with trailing soothing melodies coming to float above, setting us in deep imagination and craving for connection, as the drums slowly heighten the intensity of the beats. By the time, the next chorus comes, there is a woman’s voice singing underneath his, bringing a softness to the music and the hopeless romanticism.
Over animated riffs, the artist wonders how he can forget her even if she is happy. The instrumentals get climactic and build to a catchy outro where he sings, “And I wonder/Still I wonder.” It’s the kind of song that you will listen to again and again, and memorize all the lyrics to, mostly because it is so relatable, heartfelt, thought-provoking and even cutesy.
Listen to “I’m Never Where I Am” by Chris St. John if you still linger on past memories.
