Jacques Bailhé released tuneful new song ‘A Mother’s Tears’
In response to the horrifying gun violence in our country, Jacques Bailhé releases ‘A Mother’s Tears’ to express his outrage. His genre-bending variations on Vivaldi’s Stabat Mater, composed as a dance for two pianos ~ four hands and two cellos tells a tale that is all too common. A mother’s child is brutally, senselessly killed with a gun nearly every day in every city in the world. The majority of the time, the child is still so young and completely innocent of any crime.
The news never stops showing us images of this. The “reason” for the killing is pathetically meaningless and insignificant in comparison to the loss, leaving yet another mother crying out in pain and begging us to change. This dance marvels at the towering, unending strength of mothers—yours and mine.
