Joan of Arc by Mia Mormino: Review
Mia Mormino, a solo singer-songwriter, has released a filmic tune that urges audiences to turn their suffering into strength. An epic resonating track by Mia, ‘Joan of Arc’ surely sets the benchmark for warrior-like music. As the music starts, a soft piano embellishes the opening piece. It is soon followed by powerful beating drums and an orchestra. Mia’s voice is like a glimmer of hope because anyone who hears her voice can feel saved.
On another topic, Joan of Arc is a historical figure in French history, she was a warrior of high caliber. Hence, I believe as a fitting remark, Mia channeled her inner Joan of Arc in the song, into something beautifully chaotic. And that to me was a musical force as strong as shooting cannons.
The arrangement of the track is quite simple and easy to listen to. The instrumentation reminds me of a Game of Thrones or Lord of The Rings track. In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if HBO or some other production house decided to invite Mia for an OST! I listened to ‘Joan of Arc’ with an open mind not knowing what to expect. Thus I was quite surprised when a soft piano verse with vocals became enflamed with this majestic section filled with atmospheric music. I am a big fan of cinematic music, as well as movie scores. So, Mia’s song truly uplifted me because it has a distinct cinematic vibe to it.
