Kaleidoscope by Tony Lio: Review
Ambient escapism at its finest, Tony Lio’s music transcends the indie rock space. His track “Kaleidoscope” is a colorful one filled with echoed guitars along with an atmospheric theme keeping things mellow and balanced.
It feels like eons ago, that I was just discovering musical genres. I discovered a plethora of diverse melodic structures all the while hearing only indie tunes. Such is the variation I experienced while hearing “Kaleidoscope.” First and foremost, the entirety of the song is dream-like. It feels like you enter someone’s subconscious, and hear a psychedelic hymn being played on a loop. The feeling is pleasant, especially when it came to the singer’s aura and the overall instrumentation. Mixing slow drumming patterns with ethereal synths and guitars did the trick to enhance the appeal of the song. There’s this profound warm center in the song, and hearing made me want to edge closer and closer to that feeling. It’s almost like the track was made to let your mind go free within its delicate ambient sound, and arrive at a destination safely only to be satisfied enough.
The track from start to finish was truly a mood, and it’s a perfect number to vibe out with. Suddenly, out of nowhere this guitar solo appeared, and I must admit it was quite unexpected. It had an interesting gravitational pull, especially the gritty rock playstyle and the distorted tone which was a bit crunchy. Overall, a top-notch track to hear, and is perfect for a cozy Saturday afternoon!
