GOLUB and JA LENA have released their new and exciting summer bop, “KATILA” this August 14. This single is a captivating and energetic collaboration that creates an engaging modern song with fusion of Arabic and traditional Balkan sounds. Arranged, mixed and mastered by Nemanja Antonic, the song’s immersive production and powerful vocals create a truly unforgettable listening experience.
“KATILA,” which translates to “Woman Killer” in English, opens with a haunting and suspenseful soundscape, setting the stage for the explosion that is coming up. This leads to woozy synth-laden fog, and Golub’s reverbed voice emerges singing the refrain, “Katila” with a hypnotic flow.
With a drum roll beating down on the immersion, the haze lifts and Golub’s voice comes clear and he resumes singing even more enthusiastically and energetically over a pulsating rhythm and a heavy beat. Golub’s vocals are a standout feature of the song, with his powerful and expressive delivery adding depth and intensity to the lyrics.
The atmosphere at this point is totally danceworthy. So the Serbian singer, JA Lena’s thick and deep vocals join Golub’s and create a penumbra under his voice, evolving the dynamism of the music. The bridge brings a high, pulsating, punchy, exotic and Arabic rhythm that gets you swooned and swaying to the tune.
The well-produced music video for “KATILA” by GOLUB and JA LENA complements the song’s seductive and mysterious vibe with the singers making a deal in the gorgeous setting of a mansion. You need to watch the video to obtain the full experience of musicality. Check it out on YouTube.
