Kickin Dust Up by Lords of Dust: EP Review
Lords of Dust have kicked up quite the storm with their EP, ‘Kickin Dust Up’. From start to finish, this EP is a masterclass in heavy metal, with massive riffs and killer guitar tones that will have you headbanging along in no time. With infectious 70’s inspired heavy metal that is steeped in fuzz, octave pedals, and enough volume to create a wall of sound, Lords of Dust is a force to be reckoned with.
‘Let’s Rip’ and ‘Mr. Stranger’ are two of the best songs on the EP. In the opinion of this heavy metal and Black Sabbath fan, both tracks are essential listening. With his melodious snarl, Buco Haze elevates the already potent music to a whole new level of intensity. The band owes a great deal to its predecessors, but they’ve put their own spin on things for a sound that manages to be both timeless and cutting-edge. Paul Miner produced and mixed the album, and the results are impressive. This EP displays the band’s maturation and expansion while preserving its distinctive “desert-stoner rock” sound, beloved by fans of the subgenre. The extended play is wonderful for the more distinct rock or metal listener because of the intricacy of the songs, which adds another degree of depth to the listening experience. While ‘Blood on the Skulls’ is a little more laid-back, the EP as a whole is still bursting with classic doom/stoner intensity and is guaranteed to be a classic in the genre.
The band’s commitment to having a good time with their fans and keeping the party going well beyond two in the morning is prominent in ‘Kickin Dust Up’. With its memorable melodies and upbeat tempos, this record is ideal for a late-night get-together with friends.
