San Diego-based rapper Star2 is back with a bang on his electrifying new single โKokaine,โ featuring fellow refugee artists Eh La and Tae Tae. Released on October 10th, the track is a blazing fusion of trap intensity, bilingual lyricism, and emotional confession, colliding pain and lust with longing.
Born in the Mae La refugee camp on the Thai-Myanmar border and now based in Los Angeles, Star2 wears his remarkable journey over his art that forces survival and storytelling to be at the forefront. Under the mentorship of producer Chico Bennett, his collaborations with heavyweights like Soulja Boy, Mozzy, and $tupid Young have already turned heads. But โKokaineโ hits differently, as it hypnotizes.
The song opens with shimmering synths and a soft, pulsing beat that quickly morphs into a bass-heavy trap groove. Star2 slides in first and raps with smooth charisma and angsty precision, confessing his toxic obsession with love, โIโm addicted to your love like Iโm addicted to that Kokaine. He comes wounded in his heartbreak and frustrations, while getting it all out smoothly with effortless charisma. The hook is instantly addictive, laced with melodic melancholy and cinematic depth.
Eh La steps in next with his deep voice and grounding flow, bringing a weight and power to the roster. Switching between Thai and English, he spits about emotional chaos and manipulation, his cadence sharp and commanding. His steady, cold, and cutting verse spits like the strike of a thunder. Then Tae Tae brings it home with his razor-edged tone and fiery speed, rapping about heartbreak and self-destruction with a sting that lingers long after. The interplay between the three artists feels organic, their chemistry as volatile as the love they describe.
โKokaineโ comes as a fever dream of desire and danger, following the love that ever was. With its bilingual punch, pounding production, and raw emotion, Star2 makes statements worth denoting. Check out the music video on YouTube.
